Bonni Ellis attended Concordia University in Montreal for both her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree and her Master’s degree in Philosophy, which she obtained in 1996 and 1999, respectively. She attended law school at the University of Toronto and completed her studies in 2001. While at law school, Bonni worked on a special project at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario which involved a review and analysis of the College’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process.
Bonni completed her articles at a large national law firm and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. She subsequently returned to the firm as an Associate, where she joined the health law group and focused almost exclusively on medical malpractice litigation. Prior to joining Steinecke Maciura LeBlanc, Bonni spent over three years as the Manager of Prosecutions at the College of Nurses of Ontario, where she was responsible for all matters referred for hearings before the Discipline Committee and/or the Fitness to Practice Committee.
Bonni has been invited to speak on various topics at conferences focused on professional self-regulation, including Infonex and the Council for Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR).
